Why I'm running
I'm a nurse, not a politician.
When nurses see human suffering, we don't look away. We respond.
So why am I running for office? Triage and solving critical problems is in our blood. We literally get paid to improve the lives of others. For 17 years, I've had the privilege of serving families all across West Michigan, in both acute care and community settings.
While working hard to meet the physical needs of our community, individuals and families often share their intimate needs as well. Hard-working families are struggling to make ends meet at baseline, and when illness strikes, it can be devastating.
With constant threats to our economy, our health, our environment, and even our constitution, it's time to discard failed ideologies and join together to tackle real problems with real solutions.

01Healthcare for Every Person
As a nurse, I have watched too many patients delay care because they couldn't afford it. Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege tied to your employer. I support Medicare for All: a single-payer system that covers every American for medical, dental, vision, and mental health, eliminates premiums and co-pays, and takes the insurance industry out of the exam room. We also must allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices so no one in Michigan is rationing insulin to survive.
02A Living Wage & Worker Dignity
The economy should work for working people, not just the wealthy few at the top. I support raising the federal minimum wage so that anyone who works a full-time job can afford rent, groceries, and utilities without a second job. Workers have the right to organize, bargain collectively, and strike without fear of retaliation. No full-time worker should need food stamps to get by while the companies they work for post record profits.
03Protecting Michigan's Environment
Michigan is home to 20 percent of the world's fresh surface water. That is not a resource to hand over to the highest bidder. I will fight to protect the Great Lakes from pollution, defend clean air standards, and invest in clean renewable energy that creates good-paying jobs right here in the district. The climate crisis is not a future problem; it is happening now in our communities. We must stop subsidizing the fossil fuel industry and start building the clean energy economy Michigan's workers deserve.
04Reining In Data Centers & Big Tech
Michigan is being targeted by massive data center developments that consume extraordinary amounts of water and electricity, strain our local infrastructure, and deliver little to the communities that bear the cost. Congress must establish federal zoning guidelines and require genuine environmental review before these projects are approved. The same applies to artificial intelligence: its rapid expansion must be regulated so that the risks and costs are not simply offloaded onto residents and ratepayers while the profits flow elsewhere. People deserve a real say in what gets built in their backyard.
05Affordable Housing
Life in Michigan should not be this hard or this expensive. Housing is a necessity, not an investment vehicle. Working families, seniors, and young people across the 2nd District are being priced out of the communities they grew up in. I support expanding affordable housing construction, strengthening tenant protections, ending regulations that block new supply, and redirecting federal resources away from corporate agribusiness and Wall Street landlords toward the families and small farmers who actually make Michigan's communities work.
06Education & Opportunity
Every child in Michigan deserves a well-funded public school and every adult deserves a path forward without being crushed by debt. I support tuition-free public college and university, canceling student debt that has become a generational anchor dragging down families, and fully funding public schools so that a child's ZIP code does not determine the quality of their education. Teachers do one of the most important jobs in our society and deserve to be paid like it.
07Peace & Diplomacy First
We spend more on the military than the next ten countries combined, while veterans sleep on the streets and rural Michigan communities go without mental health services. I believe in a strong national defense, but endless wars and weapons transfers are not strength. We should be investing in diplomacy, international cooperation, and the wellbeing of our veterans, not funneling taxpayer money into an endless cycle of conflict.
08Taxing Wealth, Not Work
Billionaires and large corporations use every loophole available to pay lower tax rates than nurses, teachers, and factory workers. That is not a tax system, that is a rigged game. I support making the wealthiest Americans and profitable corporations pay their fair share, closing offshore tax havens, and using that revenue to fund healthcare, education, infrastructure, and the services that working families depend on every day.
09Protecting Our Democracy
Our democracy belongs to the people, not to corporations, billionaires, or dark-money PACs. I support banning corporate political money, ending partisan gerrymandering, automatic voter registration at 18, no-reason absentee voting, and making Election Day a federal holiday so every working person can cast a ballot. We should also abolish the filibuster that lets a minority block the will of the people, and establish term limits and ethics reforms for the Supreme Court. When politicians choose their voters instead of the other way around, democracy is broken.
10Social Justice & Equal Rights
The promise of America is that all people are created equal. That promise has too often gone unmet. I will fight for equal justice under the law regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or national origin. As a nurse, I believe deeply in the dignity of every person I encounter. That same conviction drives my commitment to policies that guarantee equal opportunity, fair treatment, and full participation in our democracy for every resident of Michigan's 2nd District.
